Most of the computer users loose their important data when they use system restore disk. Windows System Restore or Recovery Disk provided with Desktop or Laptop PC of brands like Dell, HP, Sony, Compaq etc., will reformat and re-installs Windows and ends up in loosing all critical data which may include your My Documents, Outlook Emails, Desktop files and folders etc., from active partition.

If this is your case then your lost data is recoverable until it has not been overwritten by the new installation of Windows. You should remove this drive and attach as a secondary / slave to another healthy Windows drive and further install Windows Data Recovery Software to scan the partition / drive to evaluate the possibilities for recovering your most important lost data.
